What is MusicGuesser?

MusicGuesser is a song guessing game. You hear a tenth of a second of a track — about one drum hit — and try to name it. Miss, and you can skip for a longer clip: one second, then three, seven, twelve and finally twenty. Each skip makes the song easier to recognise and the win worth less, so the game is really about how little you need.

It is name-that-tune with the clip cut down to almost nothing. Free to play, and you do not need an account to start.

Two ways to play

The daily challenge gives everyone the same song once a day, in each genre, with a single attempt and a streak to protect. Endless mode runs through a playlist for as long as you want to keep guessing — chart hits, 80s, 2010s, 90s hip hop — with no daily limit.

Ranks

Every round moves a rating that is played against the song rather than against other people, so naming a track that beats most players counts for more than naming an obvious one. Ratings run from Bronze up to Grandmaster and settle after twenty rounds. See how to play for the full rules, or the leaderboard for where everyone stands.
